Christ, the end of Striving
Rev. Tetteh-Annor Larbi | Monday, October 5, 2026 | Romans 10:4

KEY VERSE: “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” — Romans 10:4
MESSAGE:
Many of us quietly believe we have to earn God’s approval: do enough, be good enough, pray enough. We may never say it aloud, but it can show up in our guilt after a bad week and our pride after a good one.
Paul has just described people who were trying to establish their own righteousness instead of submitting to the righteousness God provides. Now he points directly to Christ. Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. The law was never meant to provide a righteousness we could establish for ourselves. Its purpose reaches its fulfilment in Christ, in whom righteousness is received by faith.
This changes the place of obedience in the Christian life. We do not obey in order to establish our standing before God. We obey because His grace has brought us into a right relationship with Him through Christ. Prayer, worship, service, giving, and holy living still matter, but they are the fruit of grace, never the basis of our acceptance. When you find yourself measuring your worth before God by your spiritual performance, return your confidence to Christ. Your hope rests in what God has provided through Him.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
Notice where you are tempted to measure your standing with God by your spiritual performance. Bring that area before Christ today and remind yourself that your acceptance rests in the righteousness God provides through faith in Him. Let your obedience flow from gratitude and grace.
PRAYER:
Jesus, thank You for being the fulfilment of what I could never establish for myself. Keep my confidence in You, and let my obedience grow from the grace You have given me. In Your name I pray. Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!

DAILY word study: END The Greek word for END is telos (τέλος), meaning “end,” “goal,” “completion,” or “intended outcome.”
In Romans 10:4, Paul uses telos to show that the law reaches its goal in Christ. Righteousness is no longer something people seek to establish through law-keeping. In Christ, God provides righteousness to everyone who believes.
This gives “end” a richer meaning than simply stopping something. Christ brings the law’s pursuit of righteousness to its intended fulfilment.
Reflect on This:
Where are you still trying to establish for yourself what God provides through faith in Christ?.
