KEY VERSE: “Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.” — Romans 7:4 ESV
MESSAGE:
Paul continues his discussion of freedom from the Law by using the analogy of marriage. He then brings the illustration directly to the believer in verse 4: “Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ.” It is instructive to note that Paul now calls these believers “brothers.” The people he once hated and persecuted have become his brethren, an example of the amazing change that faith in Christ brings.
The key point of the verse is that through the body of Christ, believers have died to the Law and now belong to another. That Person is Jesus Christ, whom God raised from the dead. Our relationship with Christ, therefore, involves belonging. Through His death and resurrection, we have been liberated and brought into a new relationship in which we belong to the risen Lord.
Let it be stressed that our new relationship with Christ must become evident in the way we live. Paul says that we have been joined to the risen Christ “in order that we may bear fruit for God.” Salvation, therefore, carries a clear implication for Christian living. Our conduct, service and devotion should show that our lives are now given to God and His purposes.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
You belong to Christ. Examine your life today and identify where your relationship with Him should produce greater obedience, service or godly character. Ask Him to help you bear fruit for God in that area.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus Christ, I belong to You. Help me to rededicate my life to You and Your cause. May my conduct, service and devotion bear fruit that pleases and honours God. Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.

DAILY word study: BELONG TO ANOTHER The expression “belong to another” in Romans 7:4 comes from the Greek ginomai heterō, carrying the sense of becoming or coming to belong to another.
Paul says that through Christ, believers have entered a new relationship. We now belong to the risen Christ, and this belonging has a clear purpose: that we may bear fruit for God. Our lives, devotion and service should reflect the One to whom we belong. Reflect on This
You belong to Christ. Let that relationship shape the fruit your life produces.
