God Rewards According to Truth

Rev. Charles Oppong-Poku | Tuesday, June 16, 2026 | Romans 2:5–11

KEY VERSE: “To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honour, and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.” (Romans 2:7–8, NIV)

MESSAGE:

We live in a world where people are often judged by their status, achievements, or public image. God sees beyond outward appearances and examines the true condition of the heart. In Romans 2:7–8, Paul reminds us that God judges and rewards according to truth. He is the righteous Judge who deals fairly with every person.

God sees every life accurately. Nothing escapes His notice. He knows our actions, motives, and intentions. People may be impressed by outward displays of religion or service, but God looks at the heart and judges with perfect knowledge and justice.

Because God sees the heart perfectly, genuine faith will be revealed in the way a person lives. Paul is not teaching salvation by works. Rather, he is showing that a transformed life is evidence of genuine faith. Those who truly belong to Jesus Christ will increasingly demonstrate obedience, faithfulness, and steadfastness in their walk with God.

Rebellion against God has serious consequences. Paul contrasts the faithful believer with those who are self-seeking, reject the truth, and follow evil. A heart that continually resists God’s truth will face His righteous judgment. This passage warns against persistent disobedience and invites us to walk in faithful submission to God’s will.

FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:

Examine your life today. Are your actions flowing from a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ, or are you merely maintaining outward appearances? Ask God to strengthen your faith and help you persevere in doing what is right, even when it is difficult or unnoticed. Remember that every act of obedience matters because God sees and rewards faithfulness.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank You for being a righteous and impartial Judge who sees my heart and knows my ways. Help me to live with sincerity and integrity before You, and walk in the truth of Your Word. May my life reflect a genuine faith that honours You in all things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.

SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!

The 365 DAILY BIBLE READING

DAILY word study: PERSISTENCE The word Persistence comes from the Greek word Hypomonē, which means endurance, steadfastness, patient continuance, or the strength to remain faithful under difficulty.

In Romans 2:7, “persistence” describes a life that keeps seeking what honours God. It is not a short burst of good behaviour. It is steady faithfulness over time. The word conveys the idea of remaining under pressure without wavering in obedience. God sees the quiet, repeated choices that people may overlook.

Reflect on this:

Keep doing what is right before God. Faithfulness may feel hidden, but it is never unseen by Him.
