John The Baptist's Testimony About Jesus
Rev. Charles Oppong-Poku | March 26, 2024 | John 5:31-35

KEY VERSE:
32 There is another who testifies in my favour, and I know that his testimony about me is true.33 “You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. John 5:32-33 (NIV)
MESSAGE:
In today’s passage, Jesus tells of testimony beyond His own regarding himself. Jesus, like anyone else, needed more than just his own claims to prove himself. There had to be an outside and independent witness to His true identity and nature, and He points to John the Baptist as one who testified about who Jesus really was. John the Baptist dedicated his life to testifying that Jesus is from God. Jesus is the light of the world, the Lamb who takes away the sin of the world, and the living one who was alive before Abraham was born.
John the Baptist’s words were true, and God sent him to prepare people’s hearts for the Saviour. John was a lamp that pointed the way to salvation in Jesus Christ. Jesus describes him as a lamp that was “burning and shining”. A lamp must be lit to burn and shine. God filled John the Baptist with zeal and illuminated him with the light of truth, shining brightly even in the darkness. He accomplished the purpose for which God sent him by preparing the way for the Messiah, and he was an outspoken witness to the deity of Jesus Christ. A true witness burns himself out for God as a life-long passion and commitment. Jesus is the Son of God, the Saviour of the world, and what we do with that reality of who Jesus is will determine our destiny!
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
How does John the Baptist's testimony impact your belief in Jesus as the Son of God? In what ways can you bear witness to Jesus' identity and work in your life? The Lord Jesus Christ desires you as His personal witness. Is the name of Jesus Christ foremost in your life? If it is, it should be evident to others where you work, go to school, and in your community.
PRAYER:
Father, I believe you sent your Son into the world to be my Saviour. Thank you for his sacrifice for my sins. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for all you did to save me. I believe you are the Son of God, the Lord who conquered death, and my Saviour who will come when the Father says the time is right. I praise you for your obedience to the Father and redeeming love for everyone, including people like me. All praise be to you. Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!
