Living Under the Reign of Grace
Rev. Tetteh-Annor Larbi | Saturday, August 1, 2026 | Romans 5:21

KEY VERSE:
“So that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” — Romans 5:21
MESSAGE:
Romans 5:20 declared that God’s grace increased beyond the reach of sin. In this closing verse of Romans 5, Paul describes two reigns. Sin exercised its power through death, while grace reigns through righteousness and leads believers into eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Grace reigns because Jesus has accomplished everything required for our salvation. His righteousness secures our acceptance before God, and eternal life comes to us as God’s gift through Him. The grace that saves us also shapes our present lives. It teaches us to reject sin, follow God’s Word, extend mercy, and make choices that reflect the character of Christ.
Romans 5 has shown us the blessings of justification by faith, peace with God, reconciliation through Christ, and the gift of righteousness. It has also revealed how Jesus overcame the reign of sin and death. You now live under the gracious rule of God. Let His grace direct your thoughts, words, relationships, and decisions. Walk with confidence in Christ, grow in righteousness, and keep your heart fixed on the eternal life He has promised.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
Before your next important decision, pause and ask: “What response reflects the reign of grace?” Choose the word, attitude, or action that expresses truth, holiness, mercy, and obedience. Follow through promptly.
PRAYER:
Gracious Father, thank You for the righteousness and eternal life You have given me through Jesus Christ. Let Your grace rule my heart and shape every part of my life. Help me walk in truth, holiness, mercy, and obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!
The 365 DAILY BIBLE READING
DAILY word study: REIGN
The word translated “reign” comes from the Greek word basileuō. It means to rule as a king, exercise authority, or govern.
Paul describes grace as reigning through righteousness because of what Jesus Christ has accomplished.
Christ’s righteousness secures the believer’s acceptance before God. His grace then shapes daily conduct, strengthens obedience, and leads toward eternal life.
To live under the reign of grace is to allow God’s truth, mercy, holiness, and love to govern each response.
Reflect on this:
What currently shapes your decisions most strongly? Let the grace of Christ govern your thoughts, words, and actions today.
