One Verdict Changed Everything

Rev. Tetteh-Annor Larbi | Monday, July 27, 2026 | Romans 5:16–17
KEY VERSE: “And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgement which came from one offence resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offences resulted in justification.” — (Romans 5:16, NKJV)
MESSAGE:
A verdict can change a person’s standing, freedom, and future in a single moment. When Adam disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, God pronounced judgment upon his sin. Pain, toil, banishment from the garden, and death entered human experience. That judgment reached beyond Adam and brought the human family under condemnation. Romans 5:16 then directs our attention to God’s gracious verdict through Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice, Christ bore the judgment our sins deserved. God now declares righteous everyone who receives Christ by faith.
This gift addresses the many offences committed by sinful humanity. Justification is God’s declaration that the believer is righteous because Christ carried our guilt and supplied the righteousness we needed. Our acceptance before God rests entirely on His saving work. Through faith in Christ, we receive a new legal standing before God that no past failure can overturn.
God’s present and settled verdict over the believer is “justified.” The Holy Spirit may convict us when we sin and lead us towards confession, repentance, and restored fellowship with God. Condemnation keeps a person trapped in guilt after forgiveness has been received. In Christ, you can live with assurance, serve God with joy, and approach Him confidently. Let gratitude for your justification shape your worship, conduct, and relationships.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
Refuse to carry condemnation for sins God has forgiven through Christ. When the Holy Spirit convicts you, confess your sin and receive God’s cleansing. Stand confidently in the righteousness credited to you by faith, and let gratitude shape the way you live and serve God today.
PRAYER:
Righteous Father, thank You for declaring me justified through Jesus Christ. Thank You for the righteousness and acceptance I have received by faith. Help me respond quickly to Your conviction and refuse every burden of condemnation. Fill my heart with gratitude, freedom, and assurance. May my life reflect the joy of belonging to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DAILY word study: CONDEMNATION Katakrima is the Greek word translated “condemnation.” It means an adverse verdict, a sentence of guilt, or the punishment that follows judgement.
Adam’s offence brought humanity under a guilty verdict before God. Sin carries real guilt and deserves righteous judgement.
Jesus Christ bore the penalty for sin through His death. Everyone who trusts Him receives forgiveness, acceptance, and a righteous standing before God.
Reflect on this:
You do not need to carry the sentence Christ has already borne for you. Confess your sin, receive God’s forgiveness, and live with confidence in your standing in Christ.
