Raised to Live a New Life

KEY VERSE: “Just as Christ was raised from the dead… we too may live a new life.” — Romans 6:4 NIV
MESSAGE:
Having established that believers are united with Christ in His death, Paul now reveals the purpose of this union. Through baptism, believers publicly declare that their former life under sin’s dominion has been buried with Christ. Because Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, everyone who belongs to Him receives the call and power to walk in a new life.
Burial marks the end of the former way of life. Through faith in Christ, sin no longer holds the position of master over us. Temptation may still arise, and our past may still carry painful memories. Our identity now rests in Jesus Christ. We belong to Him, and His saving work has opened a new direction for our lives.
Paul says that Christ was raised from the dead “through the glory of the Father.” The resurrection displayed the Father’s power, glory, and saving purpose. Through the risen Christ, the Holy Spirit gives spiritual life to every believer. This life produces new desires, new priorities, and a growing love for holiness. God gives us strength to resist sin and reflect the character of Christ.
Paul declares that “we too may live a new life.” Genuine conversion begins to show itself through a transformed way of living. Our attitudes, words, relationships, choices, and conduct should increasingly reveal the life of Christ within us. As we yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit, we grow in obedience and holiness. The resurrection of Jesus Christ gives us hope for eternity and strength to live for God today.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
Examine whether your daily life reflects the new life Christ has given you. Identify one old habit, sinful attitude, or unhealthy pattern that needs to change. Bring it honestly before God and take one practical step today. Remove access to a temptation, apologise to someone, seek accountability, or begin an act of obedience you have neglected. Depend on the Holy Spirit as you walk in newness of life.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for raising Jesus Christ from the dead and giving me new life through Him. Thank You that my former life under sin’s dominion has been buried with Christ. Help me to yield to the Holy Spirit and let my attitudes, words, choices, and conduct reflect the life of my risen Saviour. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
