The Holy Spirit - Pt. 7
Rev. Osei Kwabena Nkrahene | September 5 2024 | John 16:12-15
KEY VERSE:
” He will glorify me, for He will take what is mine and declare it to you” John 16:14 (ESV)
MESSAGE:
In John 16:14-15, we witness a remarkable display of relationship and teamwork within the Godhead. No wonder the greatest mission ever—human redemption—was accomplished. If the Church could embody even a fraction of this unity, the results would be mind-blowing.
Sometimes, I feel the urge to remind Christian groups of Paul’s words to the Galatians about loving and serving one another (Galatians 5:14-15). In verse 15, Paul issues a stern warning: “But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.” Sadly, within the body of Christ, we often allow ego, arrogance, and selfishness to blind us and harden our hearts, disregarding this wisdom.
Another powerful truth in our key verse is the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. Jesus had completed His earthly mission and was returning to heaven, but the Divine Agenda was far from finished. The Holy Spirit was tasked with continuing the work, not by diminishing Christ’s contribution but by declaring what belongs to Him and glorifying Him. This serves as a powerful reminder that ministry and nation-building are processes. The Holy Spirit did not seek to erase the legacy of Christ; instead, He sought to uplift it. Unfortunately, in our world, there are often attempts to erase the contributions of those who came before us. Of course, not everything from the past must be continued, but the deliberate obliteration of history is dangerous. As the saying goes, “To forget the past is like losing an eye”— and our vision becomes incomplete. Indeed, the past is the foundation of the present.
As we conclude, may God grant us the grace to explore more from this passage in the next segment.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
True accomplishment is rooted in relationships, teamwork, and collaboration. As Paul says in Ephesians 4:1-6, it takes great effort to maintain unity. PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for the perfect relationship and teamwork within the Trinity. Help us to emulate this in our lives and ministries. Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!
DAILY word study: DECLARE The Greek word for "declare" in this passage is "ἀναγγελεῖ" (anangelei), meaning to announce, report, or make known. It carries the connotation of revealing something previously hidden or not fully understood. The term suggests not just a simple communication of information but an authoritative proclamation of significant truths. The Spirit’s work of "declaring" connects to His role as the revealer of truth (John 16:13), emphasising that the knowledge He imparts is divine, trustworthy, and essential for the life of believers. This declaration involves prophecy and the unveiling of the meaning and implications of Christ’s work. Reflections: The Holy Spirit declares to us the truth about Christ and reveals God's ongoing work in our lives and the world. How open are you to receiving the Spirit’s revelations, and how are you responding to the truths He declares?
