The Unrighteousness of Man does not Produce the Righteousness of God

KEY VERSE: “Someone might argue, ‘If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?’” (Romans 3:7, NIV)
MESSAGE:
The early church had to contend with many false teachings, and the believers in Rome were no exception. Apostle Paul carefully exposed these errors and pointed believers back to the truth of God’s Word. One of those false teachings is found in our key verse: “My falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and increases His glory.” Nothing could be further from the truth.
God is truth personified. No amount of falsehood, no matter how convincing it may sound to the unregenerate person, can ever enhance His truthfulness. In the same way, Apostle James declares, “For the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God” (James 1:20, NKJV). Scripture also instructs us to “get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger” (Ephesians 4:31, NIV), reminding us that sinful attitudes never accomplish God’s righteous purposes.
Another false argument appears in Romans 3:5, where some claimed that “our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly.” Paul firmly rejects this reasoning. God is just, and He will rightly judge those who persist in such deception. The Bible declares that “all unrighteousness is sin” (1 John 5:17), and “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). Every thought, attitude, and action that falls short of God’s perfect standard is sin. God does not approve of unrighteousness, nor does He depend on human sin to demonstrate His righteousness.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
Have you ever excused your sinful behaviour by assuming it gives God another opportunity to display His mercy and forgiveness? That is a dangerous deception. God never needs your unrighteousness to prove that He is righteous. Reject every lie that justifies sin, and pursue a life that honours Him in holiness and obedience.
PRAYER:
Deliver me, Lord, from every false teaching that promotes unrighteous living. Fill me with the discernment of the Holy Spirit so that I may recognise false teaching and remain faithful to Your truth. Please also help me guide those who have been misled back to Your Word. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!
The 365 DAILY BIBLE READING
DAILY word study: FALSEHOOD The word translated "falsehood" comes from the Greek word pseusma (ψεῦσμα), which means a lie, deception, or something deliberately presented as untrue. It refers to more than an incorrect statement. It describes a distortion of truth that misrepresents reality.
In Romans 3:7, Paul rejects the idea that human deception can somehow make God's truth appear greater. God's truth does not become stronger because people lie. His truth is already perfect, complete, and unchanging. Every lie stands in contrast to God's holy character and calls us to live with integrity.
Reflect on this:
Truthfulness is part of Christian character. Choose honesty in your words, your actions, and your relationships, knowing that every act of truth reflects the God you serve.
