United with Christ

KEY VERSE: “If we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.”_ — Romans 6:5 NIV
MESSAGE:
Romans 6:5 draws us into one of the deepest truths of salvation. Through faith, believers are united with Jesus Christ. His death and resurrection now shape our identity, our present life, and our future hope. We belong to Him and share in the saving benefits of everything He has accomplished.
Paul says that we have been united with Christ in a death like His. Through this union, our former life under sin’s dominion has been decisively dealt with. Christ’s death broke sin’s controlling claim over us. Temptation may still confront us. We now face it as people who belong to Christ and receive strength from the Holy Spirit to choose obedience.
Paul also promises that we will be united with Christ in a resurrection like His. The risen Christ gives us spiritual life now through the Holy Spirit. He creates new desires, gives strength for holy living, and directs our lives toward God. We also await the future resurrection of our bodies, when we will share fully in the life Christ has secured for everyone who belongs to Him.
Our union with Christ gives us confidence during temptation, failure, weakness, and discouragement. We do not face these moments alone. We belong to the One who conquered sin and death. His life is at work within us, and our future rests securely in Him. Let this truth shape how you see yourself and how you respond to every struggle today.
FEET AND HANDS:
Identify one present struggle where you need to remember your union with Christ. Say aloud, “I belong to Christ, and His life is at work in me.” Then take one clear step of obedience. Leave the tempting situation, confess the failure, seek help, or return to an act of obedience you have neglected.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for uniting me with Jesus Christ through faith. Thank You that His death has broken sin’s dominion and His resurrection gives me new life and future hope. Help me remember that I belong to Christ when I face temptation, weakness, failure, or discouragement. Strengthen me through the Holy Spirit to live in obedience today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

It pictures a shared life in which Christ’s death and resurrection shape the believer’s identity and future.
Through faith, you are joined to Christ. His death breaks sin’s dominion, and His resurrection gives you new spiritual life and future hope. Your strength for obedience flows from belonging to Him.
