When Sin Opened the Door

Rev. Tetteh-Annor Larbi | Thursday, July 23, 2026 | Romans 5:12

KEY VERSE: “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.” (Romans 5:12 NKJV)

MESSAGE:

Across every generation, human beings repeat choices that damage lives, relationships, and fellowship with God. Romans 5:12 takes us back to where this broken condition entered the human family. Adam disobeyed God, and through his rebellion, sin entered the world. Death followed sin and spread throughout humanity. Adam stood at the head of the human family, so his disobedience brought all humanity under sin’s power and corruption.

Paul also says that death spread to all because all sinned. Adam’s failure is not a distant event for which we bear no personal responsibility. We belong to fallen humanity, and each of us has also sinned against God through our thoughts, desires, words, and actions. Sin has affected every human heart and reaches into families, communities, and nations. No one can escape its power or repair the damage it causes through personal effort.

Paul explains the reach of Adam’s disobedience so that we can understand the greater saving work of Jesus Christ. Christ came to rescue us from sin’s guilt, break its controlling power, and give eternal life to those who trust Him. Seeing what sin brought into the world should make us careful about compromise. Through Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, we can resist temptation, turn away from sinful habits, and choose obedience that honours God.

FEET AND HANDS:

Look closely at one compromise that has begun to feel normal in your life. Close the access it has gained by removing a source of temptation, correcting a dishonest practice, ending a harmful habit, or seeking accountability from a mature believer. Choose the action that supports obedience and take it today.

PRAYER:

Father, help me understand the seriousness of sin and refuse every compromise that draws me away from You. Thank You that through Jesus Christ I have forgiveness and power to resist sin’s rule. Strengthen me by Your Holy Spirit to reject temptation, pursue holiness, and walk in faithful obedience. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.

SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!

The 365 DAILY BIBLE READING

DAILY word study: ENTERED The word translated “entered” comes from the Greek word eiserchomai. It means to come in, gain entrance, or pass into a place.

Romans 5:12 describes sin as entering the world through Adam’s disobedience. The word shows movement from outside to inside. Once sin entered, death followed and spread through humanity.

This helps us see why compromise must never be treated lightly. Wrong choices can open access to habits and influences that begin to shape the heart. Through Christ, we can close those openings and walk in obedience.

Reflect on this:

What access to sin needs to be closed in your life today?
