FAITH FOR ALL PEOPLE

Rev. Enoch Thompson | Wednesday, July 8, 2026 | Romans 4:4–12

KEY VERSE: “And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised… in order that righteousness might be credited to them.” (Romans 4:11, NIV)

MESSAGE:

Many people easily attach spiritual confidence to visible things. Family background, religious practice, church tradition, personal discipline, and cultural identity can become things we quietly depend on before God. Paul leads us back to Abraham so that we can see the true ground of acceptance before God.

Abraham was counted righteous before he received circumcision. This means his acceptance before God came through faith. Circumcision later became a sign and seal of the righteousness he had already received by faith. The outward sign confirmed what God had already credited to him through believing.

This truth opens the door of grace to all who believe. Abraham is the father of those who trust God, whether they come from Jewish or Gentile background. His physical descendants also need the same faith he had before circumcision. God’s saving righteousness is received by faith, and all who believe are welcomed into His family.

The Gospel removes the barriers that human beings often create. God does not receive people according to nationality, status, background, or religious heritage. He receives those who come to Him by faith in Christ. As believers, we must reflect this grace in the way we treat others. The church is a family united by faith, and we are called to welcome others with the love God has shown us.

FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:

Reach out to someone who may feel excluded or overlooked. Pray for people from different backgrounds to come to know Christ. Treat every person you meet today as someone deeply loved by God.

PRAYER:

Lord, thank You that Your salvation is available to all who believe. Help me to see people through Your eyes and to share Your love without prejudice or favouritism. For Your dear Name’s sake, Amen.

THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.

SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!

The 365 DAILY BIBLE READING

DAILY word study: SEAL The word translated “seal” is from the Greek word sphragis, which refers to a mark of confirmation, ownership, or authentication.

In Romans 4:11, circumcision served as a seal of the righteousness that Abraham already had by faith. It confirmed God’s work in him. It did not produce his acceptance before God.

This matters because people can easily place confidence in religious signs, family heritage, church identity, or visible practices. Paul reminds us that righteousness comes by faith. The outward sign has meaning only when it points to the grace God gives.

Reflect on this:

Do not place your confidence in spiritual labels or outward marks. Trust Christ fully and let your life show the grace you have received by faith.
