Rev. Enoch Thompson | Sunday, July 5, 2026 | Romans 3:21–30

KEY VERSE: “Is he not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, since there is one God…” (Romans 3:29–30a, NIV)
MESSAGE:
Do we feel superior or inferior to other people because of their race, gender, ethnicity, or social standing? This is a common human tendency, and the gospel calls us to rise above such considerations.
As I write this devotional, I am in Canada, spending time with Christian friends from nearly 30 years ago. In Toronto, I am spending time with the Wus, who are Asian. I will also attend the Baptist World Alliance Annual Gathering, which will bring people from across the world to Toronto. After that, I will spend time with my church family and friends in Calgary, who are mostly Caucasian.
God is not limited by race, nationality, culture, language, or social status. He is the Creator and Lord of all people. Through Jesus Christ, God has made salvation available to everyone who believes. The gospel tears down the walls that often divide humanity and invites all people into a relationship with Him through faith.
At the same time, faith excludes human pride. No one can earn God’s favour through race, personal achievements, religious traditions, or good works. Salvation is a gift of God’s grace received through faith alone. Since all people come to God on the same basis, there is no room for boasting or feelings of superiority. We stand equal before God, dependent on His mercy and grace.
As followers of Christ, we are called to reflect God’s heart by welcoming people from every background. We must share the good news without prejudice, favouritism, or discrimination, knowing that God’s invitation is extended to all.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
Examine your heart for any prejudice, pride, bias, or favouritism, and ask God to remove it.
Show kindness and respect to all people, recognising that every person is valuable to God.
Share the message of salvation boldly, knowing it is for everyone who believes.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being the God of all people and for offering salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Forgive me for any pride, prejudice, or favouritism in my heart. Help me walk in humility, share the gospel with courage, and reflect Your love without discrimination. May my life point others to Christ and bring glory to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen. THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!
The 365 DAILY BIBLE READING
DAILY word study: GENTILES The word translated “Gentiles” comes from the Greek word ethnē, which means nations, peoples, or non-Jewish people groups.
In Romans 3, Paul shows that there is one God who justifies both Jews and Gentiles through faith. No race, tribe, culture, language, or social background gives anyone a higher place before God.
The gospel brings all people to God on the same basis: faith in Jesus Christ. This removes pride, prejudice, and feelings of superiority.
Reflect on this:
Ask God to search your heart today. Are there people you quietly look down on, avoid, or treat as less important? Since God is the God of all people, welcome others with humility, kindness, and grace.
