The Chain of Mission —III: When the Message is Rejected
Rev. Tetteh Annor Larbi | Saturday, October 10, 2026 | Romans 10:16

KEY VERSE: “But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, ‘Lord, who has believed our report?’” — Romans 10:16 (NKJV)
MESSAGE:
In the preceding passage, Paul showed us why the Gospel must be carried to people so they can hear. Today, he introduces a painful reality: hearing the message does not mean everyone will receive it. Paul writes, “But they have not all obeyed the gospel.” The message had been proclaimed, yet some refused to believe. He then quotes Isaiah’s question, “Lord, who has believed our report?” The experience of rejection was familiar even to God’s faithful messengers.
This can be especially discouraging when you have spoken about Christ and seen little response. You may have prayed for someone for years, invited them to church, explained the Gospel, and still seen no change. Isaiah’s question shows that faithful servants can feel the weight of an unbelieving response. You can bring that disappointment honestly before God. He knows the people you are praying for, and He understands the burden you carry.
Your responsibility is to remain faithful with the message God has entrusted to you. You can speak with grace, pray with hope, show patience, and continue loving people without trying to control their response. Paul’s words also remind us that Gospel ministry cannot be measured only by visible results. The message remains true even when someone rejects it. God continues working in ways we may not immediately see.
So do not allow rejection to silence you. Keep praying. Keep loving. Keep speaking when God gives you the opportunity. Entrust the hearts you cannot change to the God who alone can open them.
FEET AND HANDS OF THE MESSAGE:
Bring any discouragement in sharing your faith honestly before God today. Ask Him to renew your patience and help you remain faithful in speaking, praying, inviting, and loving without trying to control the outcome.
PRAYER:
Lord, when the Gospel seems unwelcome, keep me faithful and hopeful. I trust You with the hearts I cannot change. Give me patience to keep loving, praying, and speaking with grace. Do Your work in Your time. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!

DAILY word study: OBEYED The word “obeyed” comes from the Greek verb hypakouō (ὑπακούω), meaning “to listen attentively,” “to heed,” or “to respond in obedience.”
In Romans 10:16, Paul says, “They have not all obeyed the gospel.” The word shows that hearing the Gospel calls for a response. Some heard the message, yet they did not receive it with faith.
A fresh insight is that biblical hearing involves more than sound reaching the ears. The Gospel calls the hearer to trust Christ and respond to Him.
Reflect on This:
When you hear God’s truth, does it shape the way you respond to Him?
