Rev. (Rtd). Osei Kwabena Nkrahene | June 3, 2026 | Romans 1:3–7

KEY VERSE: “Concerning his Son… descended from David according to the flesh… declared to be the Son of God in power… by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 1:3–4, ESV)
MESSAGE:
When Paul speaks about the gospel, he immediately draws our attention to the Lord Jesus Christ. The gospel is concerning God’s Son. Christ, therefore, stands at the very centre of God’s saving message to the world.
Romans 1:3–4 shows us the wonder of who Jesus is. According to the flesh, He descended from David. This points to His true humanity and to His identity as the promised Messiah. Luke’s genealogy also places Jesus within the human family, tracing Him back to Adam (Luke 3:38). In this, we see that the Son of God truly entered human history. God had promised that the coming King would arise from David’s line, and in Jesus that promise was fulfilled.
Yet Jesus is not only the promised Son of David; He is also the eternal Son of God. By His resurrection from the dead, He was declared to be the Son of God in power. The resurrection openly displayed His glory, His authority, and His victory over sin and death. It revealed the majesty of the One who lives in eternal fellowship with God the Father.
Taken together, these truths show us the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ in both humility and power. His life, death, and resurrection reveal the greatness of God’s salvation plan. The gospel is rich because Christ is glorious, and the message is powerful because Christ is alive.
Since Christ stands at the centre of the gospel, every spiritual blessing flows through Him. Through Him, Paul received grace and apostleship. Through Him, the gospel is carried to the nations. Through Him, people are called to the obedience of faith. In Him, believers belong to Jesus Christ and are called to be saints.
In the light of these truths, we are called to gratitude, worship, and renewed witness. When we truly see who Christ is and what God has done through Him, we cannot treat the sharing of the gospel lightly. Rather, we give thanks to the Triune God for so great a salvation, and we ask Him to renew in us a living burden to point others to the Lord Jesus Christ.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
Keep Jesus Christ at the centre of your faith, your message, and your daily witness. Thank the Triune God for His great salvation plan. Ask the Lord to renew your faith-sharing responsibility, so that others may come to the obedience of faith and give glory to God.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus Christ, You are the centre of the gospel. Thank You for grace, salvation, and peace. Revive my faith-sharing responsibility. Help me to point others to You, so they may come to the obedience of faith and give glory to God. Amen. THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!
The 365 DAILY BIBLE READING
DAILY word study: DECLARED
Horizō is the Greek word behind “declared.” It means to mark out, appoint, determine, or designate clearly.
In Romans 1:4, Paul says Jesus was “declared to be the Son of God in power” by His resurrection from the dead.
This does not mean the resurrection made Jesus the Son of God. He is eternally the Son of God. The resurrection openly marked Him out in power. It displayed His victory, confirmed His identity, and showed that He is Jesus Christ our Lord.
Reflect on this:
The risen Christ deserves the centre of your faith, worship, obedience, and witness. Since God has declared Him in power, let your life declare Him with gratitude and faithfulness.
