There is no Favouritism with God, Only the Privilege of His Word

Rev. Tse Amable | Friday, June 26, 2026 | Romans 3:1–8

KEY VERSE: “What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision?” (Romans 3:1, NIV)

MESSAGE:

Apostle Paul has carefully explained in Romans 2 that possessing the law or being circumcised would not save a Jewish person. This raises an important question: If that is true, then what advantage was there in being God’s chosen people?

Paul answers that there was indeed great privilege. Above all, God entrusted the Jewish people with His very Word. They received the oracles of God—His written revelation before the coming of Jesus Christ. This was an immeasurable gift and a unique responsibility.

Later in Romans, Paul explains that Israel also received the adoption, the divine glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship of God, and the promises. The patriarchs belonged to them, and through them came the human ancestry of Jesus Christ, who is God over all (see Romans 9:4–5).

Yet these privileges did not guarantee salvation. The Jewish people, like everyone else, must accept and believe in Jesus Christ as the promised Messiah. This is an important lesson for us as Gentiles. As Paul has already established, “God does not show favouritism” (Romans 2:11, NIV). The church you attend, your family background, or your ethnicity gives you no special standing before God. He judges every person by the same standard: how they respond to the gospel of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:

What do you consider an advantage before God when it comes to salvation? Examine your heart today. Remember that God “will repay each person according to what they have done” (Romans 2:6, NIV). Place your confidence in Christ alone.

PRAYER:

Father, I thank You that You are just and impartial. Thank You for the privilege of making Yourself known through Your Word. Help me never to rely on outward or earthly distinctions, but to place my confidence in Jesus Christ alone and to respond faithfully to the truth You have revealed. I pray in His name. Amen.

THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.

SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!

The 365 DAILY BIBLE READING

DAILY word study: ENTRUSTED The words translated "were entrusted" come from the Greek word pisteuō, which means "to trust," "to commit to someone's care," or "to place something valuable into another person's keeping."

God entrusted the Jewish people with His very words because He wanted them to know Him and make Him known. This was both a privilege and a responsibility. Being entrusted with God's truth calls for faithful stewardship, humble obedience, and a life that honours Him.

Reflect on this:

God has entrusted you with His Word today. Treasure it, believe it, and let it shape the way you live
