Be Generous and Hospitable
Rev. Charles Oppong-Poku | October 29, 2026 | Romans 12:9–13

KEY VERSE: “Distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.” Romans 12:13 (NKJV)
MESSAGE:
Paul teaches that genuine Christian love must be expressed through generosity and hospitality. Every believer is called to share with those in need and welcome others, regardless of personal wealth or status. A heart that has experienced God’s grace should be willing to share and make room for others.
Paul calls believers to recognise and respond compassionately to the needs of fellow Christians who face hardship, illness, grief, or loneliness. We may not be able to meet every need, but we can willingly share what God has entrusted to us and work together to support those who are struggling. Genuine Christian generosity begins with a heart that notices others' needs and responds with compassion.
Believers are instructed to practise willing and practical generosity, using their resources, abilities, and time to bless others. The love and willingness behind our giving matter greatly to God. When we share what He has entrusted to us without seeking praise or repayment, we demonstrate Christ’s love and strengthen the fellowship of the Church.
Paul also calls believers to practise genuine hospitality by opening their hearts, homes, and resources to welcome and care for others. Simple acts, like welcoming newcomers, sharing a meal, or offering companionship, can express Christ’s love. We can practise hospitality with whatever God has placed in our hands, with a willing heart that makes others feel welcomed and cared for.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
What resources has God entrusted to you that can become opportunities to serve others and demonstrate His love? Find practical ways today to share your resources, time, skills, and possessions with those who genuinely need help. Warmly welcome newcomers and visitors into your church and fellowship. As recipients of God’s grace, share what He has given you and welcome others with sincere Christian love.
PRAYER:
Gracious Father, thank You for Your abundant generosity and the love You have shown me through Jesus Christ. Give me a compassionate heart that recognises others' needs and responds with generosity. Teach me to practise hospitality with sincerity, humility, and joy, regardless of what I possess. May my life and my church become channels of Your grace to those around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!

Day 302 Reading: Matthew 21–24 — Jesus Enters Jerusalem and Teaches About Judgment and His Return.
DAILY word study: HOSPITALITY The Greek word translated “hospitality” is philoxenia (φιλοξενία), pronounced fee-lox-en-EE-ah. It means hospitality or welcoming care shown to guests and strangers.
In Romans 12:13, Paul calls believers to be “given to hospitality.” The Greek expression conveys actively pursuing opportunities to welcome and care for others.
Philoxenia combines the ideas of affection or friendship with the stranger or guest. This gives hospitality a deliberate direction. You notice people. You make room for them. You welcome them into fellowship. You share your time, attention, food, home, or other resources as you are able.
Hospitality turns Christian love into intentional welcome.
Reflect on this:
Who can you intentionally welcome or make room for today?
