Live as Children of the Day
Rev. Enoch Nii Narh Thompson | November 6, 2026 | Romans 13:12–13

KEY VERSE: “The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armour of light.” Romans 13:12 (NIV)
MESSAGE:
In Romans 13:12–13, Paul reminds believers that the darkness of this present age is passing away and the day of Christ's return is drawing near. Because we belong to Christ, we are called to live differently from the world around us. Our conduct should reflect the character of those who walk in the light.
The works of darkness include sinful attitudes and behaviours that dishonour God and damage relationships. Paul specifically identifies drunkenness, sexual immorality, dissension, and jealousy among the practices believers must reject. He urges believers to lay these aside and put on the armour of light. This means embracing righteous conduct through purity, self-control, and integrity. As followers of Christ, our lives should visibly demonstrate the transformation that God has accomplished within us.
Living as children of the day requires spiritual vigilance and intentional obedience. We must continually examine our hearts, reject sinful practices, and pursue a lifestyle that reflects God's holiness. Every decision, conversation, and action should point others to Christ and testify to His saving grace.
The closer we are to the return of Christ, the more diligently we should walk in righteousness. The world should see in us the light of God's presence shining through our words and deeds. Children of the light are called to live in purity, integrity, and obedience as they await Christ's return.
We need to identify any attitudes or habits that do not reflect the character of Christ. We must ask God for the grace to turn away from them and cultivate a lifestyle that honours Him daily.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
Examine your conduct today and identify an attitude or habit that needs correction. Bring it before God in prayer and take a practical step towards change. Let your words, actions, and relationships reflect the light of Christ wherever you go.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me out of darkness into Your marvellous light. Help me to reject every sinful habit and to walk in holiness and obedience. Strengthen me to live as a true child of the day, reflecting Christ's character in all I do. May my life shine brightly for Your glory and lead others to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!

Day 310 Luke 7–10 — Jesus Reveals His Authority and Teaches Compassionate Discipleship
DAILY word study: ARMOR The word armour comes from the Greek hopla (ὅπλα), meaning weapons, instruments, or equipment used for protection and action. In Romans 13:12, Paul uses the expression “armour of light” to describe the spiritual readiness and righteous conduct believers are expected of believers.
Putting on the armour of light means actively embracing a life that honours Christ. Paul calls believers to reject sinful practices and cultivate purity, self-control, and integrity. As we anticipate Christ's return, our attitudes, decisions, and relationships should demonstrate the difference His grace has made in our lives.
Reflect on this:
What attitude or habit must you put aside today so that your life reflects the light of Christ more clearly?
