KEY VERSE: “If Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”_ — Romans 8:10, ESV
MESSAGE:
Paul has established that the Holy Spirit dwells in those who belong to Christ. He now explains that although our bodies remain subject to weakness, mortality and death because of sin, Christ dwells in us through His Spirit and gives us new spiritual life. Christ in us is at the heart of the Christian life. Through the Holy Spirit, He gives believers a new identity, restores their relationship with God and transforms the direction of their lives. The believer is no longer spiritually dead but alive in Christ.
Paul acknowledges that sin has brought death to the human body. Although believers have been spiritually renewed, we continue to live in mortal bodies that experience weakness, suffering and eventually physical death. Salvation does not mean that all the effects of living in a fallen world disappear immediately. We still await the full redemption of our bodies. Yet physical weakness and mortality do not cancel the reality of the spiritual life we have received in Christ.
Against the death associated with sin, Paul declares that “the Spirit is life.” The Holy Spirit gives believers spiritual life and enables us to live in fellowship with God. This life is not merely a future promise; it is a present reality. The Spirit works within us to produce holiness, strengthen our faith, renew our minds and enable us to live for Christ. Though we remain in mortal bodies, we possess spiritual life through the indwelling Spirit and can therefore face weakness with confidence, live faithfully and look forward to the resurrection of the body.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
Do not allow physical weakness or difficult circumstances to define your spiritual condition. Live each day conscious that Christ dwells in you through His Spirit. Depend on the Spirit, pursue holiness and look forward with hope to the resurrection and redemption of your body.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, thank You for dwelling in me through Your Holy Spirit. Though I live in a mortal body affected by weakness and death, remind me that Your Spirit has given me new life. Help me to depend on Him, walk in holiness and live each day in the reality of Your presence. For Your dear name’s sake. Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.

DAILY word study: LIFE Life is translated from the Greek word zōē; “life” refers to the spiritual life that comes from God.
In Romans 8:10, Paul explains that although our mortal bodies remain affected by sin, the indwelling Spirit gives us life because of Christ’s righteousness. This life begins now and carries the promise of resurrection.
Reflect on this:
Because Christ lives in you, physical weakness and mortality do not have the final word. His Spirit gives you spiritual life today and resurrection hope for eternity.
