Do not be Conformed to this World
Rev. Charles Oppong-Poku | Wednesday, October 21, 2026 | Romans 12:1–2

KEY VERSE: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” — Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
MESSAGE:
Having called believers to surrender their lives to God, Paul teaches that a genuine relationship with Him requires resisting worldly values and practices that oppose His will. Separation from the world means refusing to let ungodly influences shape our lives. We are called to live fully for God and allow His truth to direct our thoughts and behaviour.
Our relationship with God demands that we resist worldly conformity. Paul calls believers to resist standards and values that contradict God’s Word. We must allow Christ to shape our identity and conduct, living in the world as His witnesses and remaining free from ungodly influences.
Paul teaches that Christian living requires inner transformation through the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. As our minds are renewed, our thoughts, desires, attitudes, and decisions increasingly reflect God’s character. This renewal enables us to recognise and reject what displeases Him. God continually transforms us from within so that our lives reflect His will.
Our relationship with God also requires discernment of His will. A renewed mind enables believers to recognise and practise what is good, acceptable, and perfect before God. As we grow spiritually, we learn to choose what honours Him and to live according to His will. This becomes a faithful witness to a world that needs to see Christ reflected in us.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
Examine the values and influences shaping your thoughts, attitudes, and decisions. Read and meditate on Scripture regularly, allowing God’s Word, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to correct and renew your thinking. Demonstrate Christlike character so that your life becomes a positive witness to others.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me into a relationship with You through Jesus Christ. Forgive me for the times I have allowed the values and pressures of this world to influence my thinking and conduct. Renew my mind through Your Word and transform me by Your Holy Spirit. Help me to live according to Your will so that my life will be a faithful witness to Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!

DAILY word study: RENEWING The Greek word is anakainōsis (ἀνακαίνωσις), pronounced an-ah-KAI-no-sis. It means renewal, making new, or bringing something into a changed condition.
In Romans 12:2, Paul describes an inner renewal that changes the way we think. As God works through His Word and the Holy Spirit, our thoughts, desires, attitudes, and decisions increasingly reflect His truth. This renewed thinking helps us recognise and live according to His will.
Anakainōsis describes an ongoing renewal. God continues to reshape the believer’s thinking so spiritual growth reaches everyday choices and conduct.
Reflect on This:
What influence has been shaping your thinking lately, and what would change if you brought it under God’s Word today?
