Clothe Yourself With Christ
Rev. Enoch Nii Narh Thompson | November 7, 2026 | Romans 13:14

KEY VERSE: “Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” Romans 13:14 (NIV)
MESSAGE:
God desires every believer to become a visible reflection of Jesus Christ in the world. In Romans 13:14, Paul calls Christians to clothe themselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, just as one would put on a garment. This means letting His character, attitudes, and values shape every part of life. As we grow in our relationship with Christ and submit to His lordship, our conduct should increasingly reveal His character through the choices we make.
Clothe ourselves with Christ requires an intentional, growing relationship with Him through prayer, obedience, and consistent study of His Word. As we fellowship with Him, His love, humility, holiness, compassion, and righteousness become evident in our lives. Our words, actions, and decisions should show that Christ lives in us and governs how we relate to others.
Paul also warns believers not to make provision for the flesh or gratify sinful desires. Sin gains strength when compromises are tolerated, ungodly desires are entertained, and situations that weaken spiritual conviction are embraced. We make provision for sin when we deliberately expose ourselves to influences that encourage ungodly behaviour or continue habits that lead us into temptation. Walking with Christ requires us to recognise such influences, reject them, and make choices that strengthen our commitment to God.
A life clothed with Christ is marked by holiness, purpose, and godly influence. As we daily submit to His lordship, the Holy Spirit shapes our character and helps us resist temptation. Our growing likeness to Christ becomes evident through integrity, self-control, love, and obedience. In this way, we become faithful witnesses whose lives reveal Christ's beauty to a world that needs Him.
We must therefore examine our hearts and consider whether our attitudes, desires, and daily practices reflect the character of Jesus Christ. Let us surrender every area of compromise to God and seek His grace to cultivate a life that honours Him.
FEET AND HANDS FOR THE MESSAGE:
Examine your attitudes, habits, and daily influences. Identify one area where you have compromised or encouraged sinful desires. Surrender it to God in prayer, and take a practical step today to address it. Spend time in God's Word and deliberately practise a Christlike attitude that will strengthen your walk with Him.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, help me to put on the Lord Jesus Christ each day. Transform my thoughts, attitudes, and actions so that I reflect His character in all I do. Give me strength to resist temptation and wisdom to avoid anything that draws me away from You. May my life reveal the beauty of Christ and bring glory to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSING.
SHOWERS! BLESSINGS!!

Day 311 Luke 11–14 — Prayer, Repentance, and the Cost of Following Jesus
DAILY word study: CLOTHE The word clothe comes from the Greek verb endyō (ἐνδύω), meaning to put on clothing or dress oneself. In Romans 13:14, Paul uses the form endysasthe (ἐνδύσασθε), meaning “clothe yourselves” or “put on.”
Paul uses this familiar action to describe the believer's call to live in close identification with Jesus Christ.
Clothing ourselves with Christ means allowing His character and teaching to shape our thoughts, attitudes, and conduct. Just as clothing becomes visible when we put it on, our relationship with Christ should become evident through humility, love, purity, and obedience.
Reflect on this:
What attitude, habit, or desire must you surrender today so that others can see the character of Christ more clearly in your life?
